KKCenterHK Leopard Decal Review

It sure has been a while since my last post, has it not? I’m not going to say that I will be posting on a regular basis soon because I honestly don’t know. I’ve been busy, stressed, and plan on doing so for the next few weeks to come.

Anyhow, here is today’s post. It’s a review for the lovely KKCenterHK store that sells lots of nail art supplies. Today’s review is for their leopard water decals. I think they are way cool and gorgeous!

DSCN3537

For the base of my ring finger, I used Finger Paints – Don’t Make A Scene. My gold nails are Orly – Glitz, and my ring finger’s base is OPI – Alpine Snow. I used a black Stripe Rite Striper to make the zebra stripes.

DSCN3535

The decal on my ring finger is this one from HHCenterHK’s website. I absolutely loved these decals. They were a lot of fun. I received so many compliments on them. I wish I had some better photos for you, but it was dark outside when I took the photos.

DSCN3539

I have another product to review, and plan on writing a post of it in two or so weeks.

If you’re interested in purchasing these decals or any other nail art supplies, you can do so by visiting HHCenterHK’s website.

Have a great week to come :)

Breast Cancer Awareness Nail Art 2014

Hello, all! Today’s nails are from about two weeks ago. I’m quite behind on my posting. It’s still October, though, so here you are!
I got the idea from these nails by Noemihk. Her twitter can be found here, her instragram here, and her pinterest here.
DSCN3490
For my index finger, I used OPI – More Than a Glimmer. My thumb, middle, and pinky nails are OPI – Pink-ing of You, with a rhinestone attached at the cuticle. My ring finger is L'Oreal – Park Ave Luncheon, and the hearts are made with Finger Paints – Model Colour.
DSCN3489
DSCN3494
These nails were so fun to wear. I received so many comments on them! haha! I showed my cosmetology teachers and they laughed. The next day, one of them told me they were in a meeting and one of the other teachers in the meeting said she wanted to come get her nails done. My teacher said, “Oh, we’ll have Abby do them. Nails are her thing.” The other teacher responded, “What kind of things can she do?” Both of my teachers looked at each other and started laughing, and then either the administration director or principal asked what was to funny. My teacher looked at him and said, “You have to promise you won’t get mad,” then told him. He then said, “What are you teaching them?!” I thought it was a funny story :)
I hope you all enjoyed! Thanks for reading!!

Mix and Match School Nail Art

Hey all, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend! I’m soaking up the last bit of summer vacation before high school starts on Tuesday. Blah.
I. Hate. High. School.
Cosmo all the way!!

I also painted my neighbors’ nails for their first days of school. They look tooooo cuuuuute! One got tie dye and peace signs and the other got ladybugs because the dress she’s wearing on the first day has ladybugs on it. I hope their nails last for a few days (at least for the first day!)!

So, these are my nails for my first day of school. I’ve been loving mix match nails lately. I went for something simple that wouldn’t bother me if it got messed up when doing other things. This week in cosmetology, I believe we’re doing pedicures and hair washing, so my nails are bound to chip and/or peel. Plus, the weather will soon be colder, which will make my nails on the brittle side.

DSCN3270

I’m not sure how I feel about these nails.. I like them, but wish I would have done some of them differently. I do know that I love the polka dot nail!! I think the polka dots and colours really lengthen my nails.

DSCN3268

Index: I used Nina Ultra Pro – Gladiator for my base, then used Nina Ultra Pro – Black to add some polka dots.
Middle: I used Orly – Decades Of Dysfunction as my base and Sally Hansen – Set The Stage to top it off.
Ring: I used Finger Paints – Don’t Make A Scene as my base with two coats of Orly – Pink Flakie Topcoat (very hard to see). I used Nina Ultra Pro – Black and Sinful Colors – Hazard to make a bow.
Pinky: Nina Ultra Pro – Black with gold striping tape.
Thumb: Finger Paints – Don’t Make A Scene  with two coats of Orly – Pink Flakie Topcoat.

Textured Starfish Nail Art

I figured I better post these nails while the weather is still nice and summer-y here. These nails are from a few weeks ago, but nonetheless fun.

 DSCN3120

This is my first time using textured polish for nail art, and I must say that I LOVE it!

DSCN3123

I used Finger Paints – Don’t Make A Scene. I then sponged on Tea Beauty – Mint Leaf to the tips of my index and middle fingers. The starfish were made with China Glaze – Toe-Tally Textured.

DSCN3126

Are you a fan of textured polish and/or textured nail art?

Have a great day :)

Ziggy Nail Art

Today’s post is pretty special. Today is my mom’s birthday, and I NEVER know what to get her. She’s one of those people that if you ask what she wants, she’ll tell you that she doesn’t want or need anything. I do believe I nailed it this year, though. If there’s one thing I know she loves, it’s our dog, Ziggy. I decided to buy a canvas and some child safe (dog safe) finger paints, and let Ziggy take care of the rest.

That painting and the little artist was the inspiration for my nails.

DSCN2982

I attempted to recreate his masterpiece by painting all of my nails white, then diluted some polish and went at it with a detail brush. The polishes used include: NYC – French White Tip, Finger Paints – Scenery Greenery, Pure Ice – French Kiss, Sinful Colors – Unicorn, Sinful Colors – Boogie Nights, and Wet N Wild – Black Crème. To recreate the matte effect of a canvas, I topped my non-accent nails off with two coats of Hard Candy – Matte-ly In Love (this polish is kind of streaky).

For my ring finger, I used NYC – French White Tip as my base, and then I used acrylic paint for his face.

DSCN2990

This is the picture I used for reference (and yes- he does always have his tongue sticking out! haha!:

ziggy nailspiration

It wasn’t until now did I realize why I had taken this photo- For cosmetology, we had to create a portfolio, and one of the requirements was that we needed a “creative hair colour.” My friend that offered to let me temporarily colour his hair bailed on me, so my mom let me do hers. As a joke, I also put this photo of Ziggy in there too and labeled it “creative fur colour.” My teacher had a good laugh! And before anyone goes and says I abuse animals, just know that I don’t. He was/is perfectly fine :)

DSCN2996

This was his work of art:

DSCN2983

My mom didn’t expect me to get her anything, so she was stunned when I pulled out a wrapped box. She gave me a disapproving look, saying I shouldn’t have gotten her anything, but once she opened it, she was delighted. She loves it, and the only complaint she has is it’s too small. haha! She thinks it would make a great wall mural. haha!

Thanks for reading as always!

Rose Nails for Valentine’s Day

As far as Valentine’s Day goes, I find it very hard to be even semi-original with nails. I went for the classic rose this week.

DSCN1997

I used a black striper to make the outlines of the roses, then filled them in with green and red/pink polish. At the moment, I do not feel like searching for the bottles of polish I used, so if you do want to know what I used, comment and let me know :)

DSCN2009

Before I bid you farewell, I’d like you to know something…

DSCN2002

It’s true. I really do love you guys. Without you, I would feel pretty lonely in the nail blogging world. Even though I have no problem talking to myself, I really appreciate all of you showing interest in my nails. Thank you <3

Sparkly Valentine’s Day Gradient Nails

Yesterday I just grabbed some polish, and aimlessly did my nails. I had no clue what I was actually doing, but I think it turned out pretty well. I tend to “wing it” a lot!

DSCN1948

DSCN1944

DSCN1954

I first applied 2 coats of KleanColor – Sheer Peach as my base, then created a gradient using Finger Paints – Rose Patina and Sally Girl – Sparkle. Next, I used one coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust on top of my entire nail, along with a very thin layer of Wet n Wild – Kaleidoscope just extending a bit past the gradient. Then, picked out large holographic glitters from Revlon – Stunning and placed them on the pink gradient . Finally, I applied some holographic silver heart spangles to my ring fingers and thumbs.

Valentine’s Day is nearing! Are you planning anything?

Tentacle Nails and My (Somewhat) Matching Scarf!

As I mentioned in my previous post, yesterday, I like tentacles. I’m not quite sure why, but there is just something about them that attracts me. I made a tentacle scarf, to express my love for them, so it inspired my nails.
DSCN1787
DSCN1780
DSCN1779
I used two coats of New York Color- Mint Breeze for my base, and for the tentacles, I used Finger Paints – Scenery Greenery and Orly – Decoded for the dots.
Now, for my inspirational scarf:
DSCN1788
It took me a while to make, but I was able to finish the <6 feet grey part while watching a Lord of the Rings marathon. It took me a few days to complete the entire scarf. Those few days consisted of me drinking a lot of tea, watching a lot of movies, and listening to a lot of podcasts, all while sitting in the corner of my couch.
DSCN1797This is the mug my friend made for me. It says “Abby G,” but my first, middle, and last name does not have a G in it. She calls me Abby G because she’s disappointed she can’t call me Abigail, considering my real name is just Abby. So, there’s a new fun fact for you about me :)
The scarf was inspired by this scarf I came across while looking for a pattern. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a pattern, so I made my own. I wrote it down, though, and may post it on Ravelry, if I get around to it.
The print in earthy blue is just me talking about my scarf, so if you don’t care, you can just skip down to the black print :)
I brought forth my inner 3 year old when I finished my scarf, and went about for a few days acting like I was stuck to everything I touched.

-SPOILER ALERT FOR THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN- When Peter first gets his powers in the movie, he can’t type because he tore the keys from his keyboard, leading him to mistype. Well, I had the same problem; I tried to type with my tentacles on. It didn’t work out so well, but I’ll admit that I didn’t tear the keys off of my keyboard.
-SPOILER ALERT FOR CLASH OF THE TITANS- Okay, well it’s not much of a spoiler, but when the Kraken was called forth, I shouted “My part’s coming up!”

I texted someone, saying “I like tentacles. I have some. Sometimes I’m an octopus, but when I feel threatened, I turn into the kraken.” The response I got back was, “Seems legit.”

Before I bid you farewell I’d like to ask something of you; as some of you may know, I wish to start a non-nail related blog, but don’t think I want to use Blogger for it. I plan on just posting my random thoughts and pictures on it. I’m trying to do some social media shopping, but don’t know which way to go. Twitter or Tumblr? I’m thinking Tumblr, but I’d like your input if you have any :) (I’m not a fan of social media. I have a Facebook from a few years ago, but never use it.)
Happy New Year, everyone!

Doctor Who Inspired Nails

My friend and I decided to have a Doctor Who day, so I needed some matching nails, right? I’ll take any excuse for themed nails.

DSCN1747 DSCN1732

I decided to go for the logo on my ring fingers, and for the rest of my nails I made the 4th Doctor’s scarf (which is a pretty sick scarf, if you ask me!). I tried to make it as if it was hanging there freely, so that’s why it doesn’t look like the perfect french tip.

DSCN1746

For my french base, I used OPI – So Many Clowns… So Little Time, and a combination of polishes for the scarf. As for my ring finger- I first applied Finger Paints – Gallery Glam, followed by one coat of Sally Hansen – Laser. I then painted the logo on with a metallic silver polish. I placed a rhinestone on top to represent the light, then made it even better by putting some glow-in-the-dark polish on top of the rhinestone.

Hope you enjoyed!

Sparkly Dotted Christmas Tree

These nails were inspired by a few pictures I’ve seen floating around. I was originally going to create a more detailed design, but had a lot on my plate this weekend, so I went for the easy, but oh-so-cute dotted design.

DSCN1621

DSCN1620

I painted my ring fingers white, and made french tips on the rest. I used Nina Ultra Pro – Leaf Me Alone, e.l.f. – Neon Green, Essie – Sew Psyched, and Finger Paints – Scenery Greenery, and Go Van Gogh! for the green dots. I painted one coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust on each nail. I used a gold star spangle to top off my tree.

Eyeball French Tips + A Halloween Visitor

Since I haven’t done any actual Halloween nails this year, I decided to go for some eyeball tips.

DSCN1236

DSCN1237

DSCN1248

DSCN1243

I used two coats of Rimmel London – French Rose as my base, and then added two coats of Finger Paints – Gallery Glam to my tips. One each nail I added a somewhat large white dot, and added either a blue (I think I used L.A. Colors – Splash), green (Finger Paints – Go Van Gogh!), or brown (China Glaze – Mahogany Magic) dot to make the iris. Next, I added a black dot in the iris to make the pupil. The final step for the eye was to take a striper dipped into red polish to make the blood vessels. I added a few coats of a glow-in-the-dark polish at the tips, so that is why it looks a little bulky and uneven.

The day I painted my nails, I also saw a little bat attaching himself to my patio umbrella:

Isn’t he adorable? This makes me want a bat as a pet :)

I Am Liquid Jelly’s Jealous Cousin.

Not really- I’m not her cousin, but I am jealous. Jealous that I didn’t come up with this beautiful layering combination:

DSCN1094

Liquid Jelly (Liz) posted these nails, mimicking the infamous Clarins 230 polish,  and I have been admiring them for the longest time, and I finally decided to try them out.

DSCN1103

DSCN1095

DSCN1105

I used Liz’s “recipe” for the guideline of my attempt at her layering combination, but I didn’t have any of the polishes she used, so I made due with what I had. Below is her recipe, along with mine:

Liz’s Recipe:

  • 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Daddy’s Girl (3 recommended)
  • 2 coats of Orly – Space Cadet
  • 1 coat of Maybelline Colorama – Sonic Sunset (flakie)

My Recipe:

  • 2 coats of Nicole by OPI – Show You Care
  • 1 coat of Maybelline Color Show – Purple Icon
  • 2 coats of Hard Candy – Beetle
  • 1 coat of Finger Paints – Flashy

I’m not sure if  Purple Icon was necessary for this look, but it looks gorgeous over Show you care! I plan on posting that combination in a separate post sooner or later.

I got so many compliments on these nails! It’s insane! I think Liz is a genius- she does some pretty awesome swatches, combinations, reviews, and nail art, so if you haven’t already, you need to check out her blog!

Watermelon Inspired Flower Nails

Today is day 14 of the 31 Day Challenge, and the theme was flowers. I wasn’t completely sure of what I wanted to actually paint on my nails, so I just painted my nails green, then went with it…
DSCN0047
DSCN0046
They remind me a bit of watermelons because of the colors used.
I used Finger Paints’ Go Van Gogh! for my green base, then I painted the flowers with Jesse’s Girl’s JulieG, and finally added the yellow centers with Sinful Color’s Unicorn.

Finger Paints-Electro-Midnight

This post is simply done with Finger Paints’ Electro-Midnight. It is my first and only magnetic polish (for the moment).

102_2521

I touched my nail with the magnet a few times, and re-did what I wanted, but for some of them, I simply dabbed a bit of polish onto my area that needed fixed, and put the magnet on top of it again.

102_2523

102_2526

This polish created a fun effect that looked great for the amount of time it had taken. I can’t really think of any words to describe it. I will try anyway: when turn your nails…. it looks bumpy… No, that’s not it. Let’s just say it looks magical!

The bottle looks very similar to Color Club’s Magnetic Force polish.
