Black and White Rainbow Birthday Nail Art

Today’s original post crashed, then my last minute plan crashed, so this is what we have today. Birthday nails. I can’t pass up an opportunity to paint cupcakes on my nails! They are just too cute :)

DSCN3169

The white used is NYC – French White Tip. THe black used is Art Club – Black. The rainbow polishes are as follows (from red to purple): a red Lacura, Sally Hansen – Sun Kissed, Sally Hansen – Mellow Yellow, OPI – Green-Witch Village, Love & Beauty – Turquoise, L.A. Colors – Tropical Breeze. The gold polish is Funky Fingers – Down To Earth. The glitter on the cupcake is L.A. Colors – Sparkling Diamonds and Wet n Wild – Party of Five Glitters. The black and white glitter is one of my birthday gifts, and is Hard Candy – Black Tie Optional (my first black and white glitter! Whooo!!)

Tomorrow will be the last guest post of the week, and it’s just as lovely as the two previous manicures!

Have a great day! Do you own any black and white glitters?

Ziggy Nail Art

Today’s post is pretty special. Today is my mom’s birthday, and I NEVER know what to get her. She’s one of those people that if you ask what she wants, she’ll tell you that she doesn’t want or need anything. I do believe I nailed it this year, though. If there’s one thing I know she loves, it’s our dog, Ziggy. I decided to buy a canvas and some child safe (dog safe) finger paints, and let Ziggy take care of the rest.

That painting and the little artist was the inspiration for my nails.

DSCN2982

I attempted to recreate his masterpiece by painting all of my nails white, then diluted some polish and went at it with a detail brush. The polishes used include: NYC – French White Tip, Finger Paints – Scenery Greenery, Pure Ice – French Kiss, Sinful Colors – Unicorn, Sinful Colors – Boogie Nights, and Wet N Wild – Black Crème. To recreate the matte effect of a canvas, I topped my non-accent nails off with two coats of Hard Candy – Matte-ly In Love (this polish is kind of streaky).

For my ring finger, I used NYC – French White Tip as my base, and then I used acrylic paint for his face.

DSCN2990

This is the picture I used for reference (and yes- he does always have his tongue sticking out! haha!:

ziggy nailspiration

It wasn’t until now did I realize why I had taken this photo- For cosmetology, we had to create a portfolio, and one of the requirements was that we needed a “creative hair colour.” My friend that offered to let me temporarily colour his hair bailed on me, so my mom let me do hers. As a joke, I also put this photo of Ziggy in there too and labeled it “creative fur colour.” My teacher had a good laugh! And before anyone goes and says I abuse animals, just know that I don’t. He was/is perfectly fine :)

DSCN2996

This was his work of art:

DSCN2983

My mom didn’t expect me to get her anything, so she was stunned when I pulled out a wrapped box. She gave me a disapproving look, saying I shouldn’t have gotten her anything, but once she opened it, she was delighted. She loves it, and the only complaint she has is it’s too small. haha! She thinks it would make a great wall mural. haha!

Thanks for reading as always!

Brunch At Timothy’s Nail Art

First off, I would just like to say that I absolutely LOVE the title for today’s post! For some reason, it just makes me incredibly happy and smile uncontrollably every time I think of it, or look at it.

The reason I chose the title is because I initially started with a base of New York Color – Mint Macaroon, and added Wet n Wild – Kaleidoscope to my middle finger and thumb nails, then realized it looked similar to Tiffany inspired nails (However, a different shade of blue). I was not aiming for this, but thought if I kept adding features, the similarity would go away- I was wrong. My final attempt distinguishing a difference was adding the white peacock feather decal. Again, I was wrong; I still see Tiffany & Co. when I look at these nails! I finally gave in, and thought, “No, let’s play along with this…. How about ‘Brunch at Timothy’s’?!”
And thus, the name stuck! (in fact, the name alone makes me love these nails so much more than I originally did!)

DSCN2714

DSCN2715

As I already stated, I used NYC – Mint Macaroon as my base and added Wet n Wild – Kaleidoscope for some extra glitter. I used silver striping tape for my pinky nails, added a white peacock feather decal* to my index fingers, and created a white bow out of white acrylic for my ring fingers. This was (basically) my first time creating 3D acrylic- what do you think of it?

DSCN2712

Wet n Wild – Kaleidoscope was one of the first polishes I bought when I started doing nails, and I still love it! Its from the Wild Shine line and for only $.99, it’s a steal!

DSCN2709

I’m really happy I decided to go for a mix and match theme today. I’ve been wanting to do 3D acrylic on myself for a while now, and have been waiting for a perfect opportunity to use my feather decals again!

I had a lot of fun creating these nails (even more fun creating a title!!! haha)!

The Great Gatsby Inspired Nail Art

Hello beauts. Long time no write? My apologies. I’m planning on doing a hiatus post along with my thoughts and dilemmas in the future.

Until then, I have a lot of catching up to do. I would really like to post my nails in chronological order, but I decided to post my Gatsby nails first since it’s still pretty recent, with the movie still being in theatres.

DSCN2572

I read The Great Gatsby a while back, and once I saw that there was a new Gatsby movie coming out, I was super ecstatic. Naturally, I wanted matching nails to go see it, so I decided to use the Jay Gatsby logo from the movie and the notable eyes of Dr. TJ Eckleburg.DSCN2578

For my index finger, I used Sally Hansen – Blew Me Away! as my base, and lightly sponged Pure Ice – French Kiss around. I then used a gold, black, and white Stripe Rite Striper to create all of the details. I used a mix of Blew Me Away! and French Kiss to make the pupils.

For my ring finger, I used a base of Wet n Wild – Black Crème and used a gold Stripe Rite Striper to make the logo.

For my non-accent nails, I used Wet n Wild – Black Crème for my base and created a gradient, using a gold glitter by Cosmetic Arts, e.l.f. – Golden Goddess, and an Art Deco – Gold Glitter striper.

DSCN2580

I don’t quite remember how to post. So, uh, have a nice day :) Oh, and thanks for sticking with me regardless of my pathetic attempt at blogging for the past few months :)

Oz: The Great and Powerful Inspired Nails; Glinda (Born Pretty Store review, as well :) )

I told you that I wasn’t done doing Oz inspired nails! Today’s post includes Glinda inspired nails and a review of Born Pretty Store’s Colourful Crystal Rhinestones.

First up, let’s talk about my Glinda nails :)

DSCN2394

Once I saw Oz, I knew I needed to replicate Glinda’s crown. Unfortunately, I knew the plastic rhinestones I already had wouldn’t do, but then Born Pretty asked if I would like to do a review for them, so I chose their crystal rhinestones.

DSCN2393

I used 3 coats of OPI – I Theodora You, then created a glitter gradient on all of my nails (except my ring fingers) using e.l.f. – Golden Goddess. On my ring fingers, I created a small star-like crown using Wet n Wild – Goldmine. Then I simply placed a crystal rhinestone in the center. Topcoat and done!

DSCN2396

And now for the review!

As I previously mentioned, Born Pretty Store sent me  their ‘144 pcs Bornpretty Colorful Crystal Rhinestones SS10 Acrylic UV Nail Art’ for a review.

DSCN2421

I chose these crystal rhinestones to review because I had never tried crystal rhinestones; only plastic.

As you can see, they glisten many different colours in the sun…

DSCN2422

… they also show off all of their colours in the shade as well!

DSCN2428

While I love how colourful they are, my absolute favourite thing about these rhinestones is that they don’t cloud like plastic ones do:

Before top coat…

DSCN2430

Once top coat is applied…

DSCN2434
Note how the plastic rhinestone (on top) clouds, while the crystal one doesn’t. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that!

I’ve never really used that many rhinestones in my nail art before, but I can sense that I’ll be using rhinestones a lot more now!

Studded French Tip

Hello all!

I think I have hit a spot where I don’t have time to post, and when I do I just don’t feel like it. I’m lazy. I know. I’m sorry!

Fortunately, that means I will be posting like a mad man, trying to catch you all up on what’s been going on (okay, maybe not a mad man; I’ve only done my nails twice since my last post, but I’ll be doing my nails this weekend, have a review for you all, and have a bit of a DIY project up my sleeve.

Onto the part you’ve all been waiting for…

DSCN2257

I’ve really been into the sheer polishes lately (see -soon to be- next post)! I wanted to go for something a bit more simple, yet eye catching. I settled on a simple, somewhat dramatic, black tip. Next, I added some round studs in the center, and then added gold micro beads to align the rest of the tip.
I used 2 or 3 coats of OPI – Don’t Burst My Bubble for my french base, then used Wet n Wild – Black Crème for my black tip.

Oz: The Great and Powerful Inspired Nails: Flying Creature

Hello all! Is anyone else super excited for the new Oz movie? I sure am! Only one more week!

The little flying creature that resembles a sea monkey inspired my nails this week. I think he’s adorable, but everyone else I talked to begs to differ. Unfortunately, the lighting wasn’t agreeing with me today, so the quality of the pictures isn’t too great :(

DSCN2106 DSCN2105

DSCN2099

DSCN2103

For my blue base I used Sally Hansen – Blew Me Away! then used Savvy – Mango for the base of the creature. I created a few highlights using L'Oréal – Pink Me Up!. I mixed some Pink Me Up! with black in order to create some shadows, along with the mouth. I used black and white polish to make the eyes.

I used Rimmel London – French Rose for my french base for the rest of my nails. I made a black french tip using Wet n Wild – Black Crème.

Geometric Cube Nail Art

I’ve been falling behind on posting; these nails are from last week. I actually don’t feel like posting today, but am forcing myself, considering I know I won’t feel like next weekend either. I won’t be home much next weekend, but I have already planned out how I’m doing my nails.

DSCN2062 DSCN2060

DSCN2061

DSCN2057

For my base, I used New York Color – West Village, then sponged Maybelline – Purple Icon on my tips. To create my cubes I made squares using Revlon – Smoldering, then made the sides using Wet n Wild – Gray’s Anatomy. To finish it off, I used a white Stripe Rite striper to outline my cubes.

Sparkly Valentine’s Day Gradient Nails

Yesterday I just grabbed some polish, and aimlessly did my nails. I had no clue what I was actually doing, but I think it turned out pretty well. I tend to “wing it” a lot!

DSCN1948

DSCN1944

DSCN1954

I first applied 2 coats of KleanColor – Sheer Peach as my base, then created a gradient using Finger Paints – Rose Patina and Sally Girl – Sparkle. Next, I used one coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust on top of my entire nail, along with a very thin layer of Wet n Wild – Kaleidoscope just extending a bit past the gradient. Then, picked out large holographic glitters from Revlon – Stunning and placed them on the pink gradient . Finally, I applied some holographic silver heart spangles to my ring fingers and thumbs.

Valentine’s Day is nearing! Are you planning anything?

Traditional Leopard with an Accent Nail

Along with many others, animal print is one of my go-to nail designs. These are actually the nails I had for Thanksgiving. We were sitting at my grandma’s table, and I turned to my brother and asked, “Aren’t my nails sexy?” He just looked at them for a while and asked, “Why is one blue?” My response was simply because it is fun. No further questions were asked. I think it was because he thought they were pretty sexy, too :)

Anyway…. here are my “sexy” nails

DSCN1441

I used L'Oréal – Park Ave Luncheon for my base (It is quite possibly my favourite nude polish I own! It’s hard for me to match polishes to my skin, but Park Ave Luncheon is gorgeous!). For my brown spots, I used China Glaze – Mahogany Magic, and for my teal spots I used a random no-name polish that was given to me. I used Wet n Wild – Black Crème for outlining the spots.

Have you found the perfect nude polish?

Spooky Eyes and Spider Web Nails

Nothing original today, but I still like them. I don’t think I could go a Halloween without spider webs. They’re so classic and easy! This was actually my first time making a white spider web, though. I usually do black, but this is a nice change :) I’m not too used to black nail polish on myself, either, but it’s so different for me that I am coming to love it. It can be really sophisticated if you want it to be… but not today- today I went for a more fun approach!

DSCN1295 DSCN1298

I used two coats of Wet n Wild – Black Crème for my base on every nail. For my index finger, I made two white dots just touching one another, then added two black dots inside to make a pair of eyes. I used a white Stripe Rite striper to make a spider web on my ring finger.

DSCN1300

Halloween is almost here! Is anyone going to any parties and/or dressing up? My neighborhood likes to get together to have a small Halloween party (by party, I mean they just pass out treats to the kids so they don’t have to go from door to door) each year, so I just wore white and orange eye shadow and made a spider web on the outside of my eye with black eyeliner. I went all out, right? Haha!

Breast Cancer Awareness Bra and Ribbon Nails

I wasn’t going to include “bra” in the title because I wanted to see if anyone could tell that what I painted was a bra, because I was shocked that the people I showed my nails to needed a lot of hints and guesses to tell that it was a bra on my index finger. I ultimately decided to include it in the title because what if someone was searching “Bra Nails” (very unlikely, but possible :) )? They need some key words to help them get here, right? You’re welcome to those of you who were, indeed, searching for bra nails :)

DSCN1119

DSCN1126

DSCN1131

For my index and ring fingers, I used one coat of Wet n Wild – Black Crème as my base.

For my index finger I used Rimmel London – French Tip White Tip Liner to make my bra. I then used a nameless Funky Fingers mini bright pink polish to make the polka dots.

As for my ring finger- I made a basic ribbon using the nameless Funky Fingers, and then outlined it with my Rimmel London White Tip Liner to make it look like one side was crossing over the other.

For the rest of my nails, I used 2-3 coats of Sinful Colors – Easy Going, and one coat of Kleancolor – Take A Hint to complete my mani.

Have a great day!
