I Am Liquid Jelly’s Jealous Cousin.

Not really- I’m not her cousin, but I am jealous. Jealous that I didn’t come up with this beautiful layering combination:

Liquid Jelly (Liz) posted these nails, mimicking the infamous Clarins 230 polish,  and I have been admiring them for the longest time, and I finally decided to try them out.

I used Liz’s “recipe” for the guideline of my attempt at her layering combination, but I didn’t have any of the polishes she used, so I made due with what I had. Below is her recipe, along with mine:

Liz’s Recipe:

  • 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Daddy’s Girl (3 recommended)
  • 2 coats of Orly – Space Cadet
  • 1 coat of Maybelline Colorama – Sonic Sunset (flakie)

My Recipe:

  • 2 coats of Nicole by OPI – Show You Care
  • 1 coat of Maybelline Color Show – Purple Icon
  • 2 coats of Hard Candy – Beetle
  • 1 coat of Finger Paints – Flashy

I’m not sure if  Purple Icon was necessary for this look, but it looks gorgeous over Show you care! I plan on posting that combination in a separate post sooner or later.

I got so many compliments on these nails! It’s insane! I think Liz is a genius- she does some pretty awesome swatches, combinations, reviews, and nail art, so if you haven’t already, you need to check out her blog!

White and Silver Zebra Nails

I don’t have much to say about these nails. Zebra nails aren’t anything special, but everyone (including myself) always loves them.

I used Sally Hansen – Pure White Tip for my white base, and L.A. Colors – Live for my silver base. I used a Stripe Rite striper in black to make my stripes.

Polished Keys

A while ago I painted my neighbor’s key. She really liked my Easy Madagascar Inspired Nails, so I painted her key to match them. (This key is actually kept at my house; in the event of them leaving their key in their one of cars or something, they come to my house and ask for it. It happens quite a bit actually!)

I painted their last name on this side. I blacked it out for confidentiality, but if their last name was Smith, I probably wouldn’t have. There are so many Smiths! Seriously, who doesn’t know a Smith?

Onto the next key- I just painted my house key a few days ago:

Try to find the significance on this side… (I’ll tell you at the end of the post)

*HINT*- it’s a red shoe.

*HINT*- It’s sparkly.

Need another hint? It’s my house key.

The other side doesn’t have anything to do with the shoe side, but I think leopard and red look perfect with each other!

Can you tell it says Walmart behind the polish? No matter how many coats I put on, it still showed through.

Both of the keys are super bubbly because I’ve been trying to use up old top coats without using them on my nails. After a while I might take the polish off of my key and paint something new on it. Maybe I’ll use a not-so-bubbly top coat so it looks nicer.

Ready for the answer as to why I painted a red sparkly shoe on my house key? It’s supposed to be like the Wizard of Oz. “There’s no place like home.” Get it- home, house key? Only a few people got it when I showed it to them. Oh, well! As long as I get it, it doesn’t matter if others get it :)

Half Stripe Manicure

Boy have I missed blogging! The last post I made was about the Liebster Award, and the last nail post was over one week ago!

These nails were from a while ago, and I was stumped when thinking of something to paint on my nails. I decided to go to my copy of “The Wah Nails Book of Nail Art.” I went from page to page, trying to find something fast and easy to paint on my nails. I finally decided on the half stripe mani featured on page 26.

I used China Glaze – Electric Beat for my blue base. I then used a white striper to mark where I wanted my stripes to start. I filled in the areas I wanted white with Sally Hansen – Pure White Tip. Once the white dried I used a black striper to create the black stripes.

This mani actually looked better in person; in the photos you can see some smudging and air bubbles. In person, it looked nearly perfect!

I hope to get back to more frequent and constant posts soon. Please forgive me if I don’t! On the plus side- I have a lot of Halloween posts already on my files from last year, so you can expect double the nails in October! Unfortunately, you still have to wait a month for that!
