St. Patrick's Jems Nail Art

Let me first start off by saying I’m sorry for the lack posts. There are things on my do to list with a lot higher of priority. Hopefully I’ll be able to knock them all off by the end of next month!

Today’s nails are those of my client’s. She wanted some fun St. Patrick’s nails and I think I delivered.

All of the polish used was Shellac gel polish. Unfortunately, I don’t know the names because the polish is my school’s and I forgot to read the names.

I used a combination of iridescent green glitter and opaque gold glitter to create a glitter gradient. I placed yellow/orange rhinestones towards the cuticle, and used two coats of gel top coat to secure them. Her ring fingers are simple shamrocks :)

She was very pleased with them, therefore I was pleased. Prior to seeing me, she was never into nail art, and now she always has an idea in mind before our appointments! I’ve got to say that it’s pretty cool having converted someone into a nail art fanatic!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Betty Boop Nail Art + KKCenterHK Review

This week’s nail art was inspired by Betty Boop. A week or so ago I was talking to one of my teachers about nail ideas and she mentioned Betty Boop. I decided to attempt the idea.
The pictures in this post are a little on the ugly side. The lighting was terrible when I went to take the photos.

For the non accent nails, I used Nicole By OPI – Challenge Red-y with two coats of New York Color – Broadway Burgundy Frost for a bit of red shimmer. I then added square gold studs to all of my non accent nails. My two ring fingers consist of a base of Funky Fingers – Down to Earth topped with Sally Hansen – Set the Stage. I freehanded Betty and Pudgy. To fill the empty space with Pudgy, I added a star gold stud.

I was also sent this triangle dish by KKCenterHK for a review. I initially thought I would use it for glitter, but found that it works wonderful for studs that come in little bags.
DSCN3965
The problem with the studs you buy in bags is that when you shake some out to use, they tend to get everywhere and you have to chase them around!
DSCN3966
To combat that problem, I poured my studs into this triangle dish and was able to easily maintain and use my studs. However, when you pour out the studs, the majority of them like to face down. However, using this dish, I found that once you used all of the face up studs, you could easily pick up the dish and hit it lightly against your table, and more studs turn upwards. Easy as that!
DSCN3959
Cleanup is a breeze too! Because of the triangle design, you can easily pour the studs (or whatever else is in the dish) back into it’s packaging!
I don’t normally rave about every new thing I get, but I absolutely LOVE this product! It’s so simple, but incredibly helpful! It’s the simple things in life!
If you’d like to purchase this triangle rhinestone placement dish (which I totally think you should!) for a whopping (kidding- more like incredibly low price) $1.35 USD, head over to KKCenterHK! You can even save 10% with my coupon code: nailtreasures

Polka Dots and Bow Mix and Match + KKCenterHK Review

Today’s post is a week overdue, but that just means there will be two posts this week :)
I was sent a bubble nail foil for review purposes by KKCenterHK, and used it in today’s (last week’s) nail art.
DSCN3926
I used Nina Ultra Pro – Black for the black polish. The white nail polish is OPI – Alpine Snow. I created the holographic polka-hexagons using Sephora by OPI – Beam Me Up Hottie! and for the base of my ring finger and thumb, I used Essie – No Place Like Chrome. I then the bubble foil and foil glue to add on the holographic foil. The bow was made out of clear acrylic and pink glitter.

As you can see, the top coat completely ruined the holographic goodness of the foil, and crinkled it a lot. I think if you were interested in using it, skip the top coat.
If you’d like to purchase this nail foil or any other nail art supplies, head on over to KKCenterHK and use my coupon code (nailtreasures) to get 10% off of your order!
Have a great week :)

Hamlet Nail Art

I’m a little bummed Valentine’s day is over because now I can’t cop out and do hearts on my nails when I’m not feeling very creative. Plus, I was really getting into the pinks and reds.

My nails for the week were inspired by Hamlet by William Shakespeare. It was a pretty good book. I mean, it must have been good enough to put on my nails, right?

I wanted a very muted base color, so I used OPI – Glints of Glinda. I used three coats, and it is still sheer enough that you can see my visible nail line, but I've gotten over the compulsive need for opaque polishes. Also, I think it fits these nails very well.

I used acrylic paint to add all of the flowers and skull. The skull is obviously Yorick’s, and is a very symbolic piece of the work. The pearl represents the pearl in the wine at the fencing match. The flowers are all of those that Ophelia handed to everyone, and the crown is pretty self explanatory.

Love Yourself Nail Art

DSCN3765
Love means something different to everyone. There is no right or wrong.
I believe in truly loving yourself. You are the only person that you have for your entire lifespan. That means you better believe in yourself. Loving ourselves is what gets us through rough times. Valentine’s day is mainly viewed as a two person holiday. There are so many people that become saddened over the holiday because they don’t have a significant other. If we all loved ourselves we wouldn't feel the need for another half. I believe every person should view themselves as a whole and nothing less.
We all go through bad days and just want to dig a hole and lay in it. I know. I do it too. What helps me through it is knowing that I have myself and I believe in myself that I will get through it. A lot of the time I’m sad is because I’m around negative people. Those people do not love themselves enough. I've gone through bullying throughout my years in middle school, which made me want to die. I would come home crying everyday, I didn't care what happened to me. I wanted to be gone. I wished for my bullies to know what they had done to me. I had absolutely no confidence and I felt like I was decaying. It took me years to build my confidence back up and beyond. I did it through loved ones. They loved me and taught me to love myself.
I have a much more positive perspective now. If I have a bad day I snap myself out of it by asking myself, “Are you just being grumpy?” and realize my worries and troubles are nothing.
DSCN3762_01
For my nail art, I used e.l.f. – Light Red as my base and then two coats of Morgan Taylor – Rare as Rubies (Rare of Rubies is one of my absolute favorite glitter polishes I own! I feel so good and confident with it on; kind of like when you wear your favorite outfit). I used a white Stripe Rite striper to make a big heart on my ring finger which served as an ‘o.’ I then spelled out ‘love’ by adding a cursive ‘L’ at the top and ‘ve’ at the end.

What does love mean to you?
Thanks for reading <3
LOVE,
Abby
P.s. I love you all so much and without you, I would not continue to blog. Blogging makes me happy, therefore you make me happy. You can’t see it, but I’m making a kissy face just for you guys :)

Valentine’s Kiss Nail Art

I had a different idea for my nails this week, but after trying and failing at them twice, I decided to go for something a little less complicated. Very simple, but I still really like them.

DSCN3751

For my all of my nails except my ring fingers, I used LA Colors – BCC 575 as my base, the added OPI – Which is Witch?. The base of my accent nail is Sinful Colors – Easy Going. For the lips, I used OPI – Pink-ing of You, and added a bit of shimmer to the corners using Nicole by OPI – Kim-pletely In Love.

DSCN3756

At first, I wasn’t too fond of my non accent nails (mainly the LA Colors foil polish), but I now realized I really like them! Kind of blingy, but not too much whatsoever :)

How do you feel about foil polishes?

Sherlock Season 3, Ep. 1 Nail Art

To show my love for Sherlock, I decided to do my nails for the third season. I had already watched episode one when I did these nails, so I took some inspiration from John’s moustache and Sherlock’s not-so-permanent moustache.

I went off of these nails and post by Nail Job. I don’t like the way my John nail came out, but I was ready to sleep, so I went with it.

 DSCN3687

I hardly ever use my tripod for photos of both of my hands, but I really should because I think this may look a little more professional :)

I used OPI – Alpine Snow for my white index fingers and Forever 21 – Lavender for the rest. The glitter is China Glaze – Your Present Required.

I must say that I love Your Present Required! It is the only Holiglaze polish I picked up this year. Actually, I never intended on buying it, but I saw so many beautiful swatches that I knew I had to have it. It was the only one left in the store when I was there, so you can bet I snagged it up!

DSCN3680

The rest of the features are done with nail polish, but there were so many used that it’d be crazy to list, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

DSCN3686

Do you watch Sherlock? Do you have any polishes you never intended on purchasing until some other pesky nail blogger decided to make you swoon?
