2014 Graduation Nail Art

Last week I graduated from high school. While as a senior, I only had to go to school two days that week, it was enough for me to want to leave and never go back. haha. So much has happened since I last blogged and I’m not even sure where to start because I feel I owe it to you to let you all know what has been happening and what has hindered me from blogging.
However, this post is not about what has happened, it is about my graduation nails that I threw together for my last day as a senior. My school colors were red and grey, so I tried to be a little matchy :)
DSCN4265
I used Nina Ultra Pro – Black for my index finger. The red is Nicole by OPI – Challenge Red-y, the white is OPI – Alpine Snow, and the silver is by LA Colors.
The bows were sent for review by Born Pretty Store. I received a lot of compliments on them and the nails altogether. I applied them simply using top coat. They lasted longer than I thought with simply top coat until I was challenged to move some boxes at work and the white bow got knocked off. No worries though; I was changing them the next day anyhow :)

Galactic Stripe Nail Art

The third and final product I received for review from Born Pretty Store were these holographic studs.

DSCN4199
I wasn’t 100% sure where I was going when I sat down to do my nails, but I knew that whatever I did, they would be fabulous because anything holographic is fabulous ;)

DSCN4200
For my non accent nails, I used LA Colors – Sea Siren. I then applied China Glaze – Cosmic Dust to half of my nail. Then, I applied one coat of China Glaze – Fairy Dust on top of Sea Siren. Finally, I drew a line between the two polishes using a black striper. The black I used for my accent nails was Nina Ultra Pro – Black. I applied the holographic studs using top coat.

You can purchase these holographic studs at Born Pretty Store. While you’re there, be sure to check out their other nail art goods. You can also use my coupon code: CY5J61 to save some money on some already reasonably priced products!

Valentine’s Kiss Nail Art

I had a different idea for my nails this week, but after trying and failing at them twice, I decided to go for something a little less complicated. Very simple, but I still really like them.

DSCN3751

For my all of my nails except my ring fingers, I used LA Colors – BCC 575 as my base, the added OPI – Which is Witch?. The base of my accent nail is Sinful Colors – Easy Going. For the lips, I used OPI – Pink-ing of You, and added a bit of shimmer to the corners using Nicole by OPI – Kim-pletely In Love.

DSCN3756

At first, I wasn’t too fond of my non accent nails (mainly the LA Colors foil polish), but I now realized I really like them! Kind of blingy, but not too much whatsoever :)

DSCN3758

How do you feel about foil polishes?

Black and White Rainbow Birthday Nail Art

Today’s original post crashed, then my last minute plan crashed, so this is what we have today. Birthday nails. I can’t pass up an opportunity to paint cupcakes on my nails! They are just too cute :)

DSCN3169

The white used is NYC – French White Tip. THe black used is Art Club – Black. The rainbow polishes are as follows (from red to purple): a red Lacura, Sally Hansen – Sun Kissed, Sally Hansen – Mellow Yellow, OPI – Green-Witch Village, Love & Beauty – Turquoise, L.A. Colors – Tropical Breeze. The gold polish is Funky Fingers – Down To Earth. The glitter on the cupcake is L.A. Colors – Sparkling Diamonds and Wet n Wild – Party of Five Glitters. The black and white glitter is one of my birthday gifts, and is Hard Candy – Black Tie Optional (my first black and white glitter! Whooo!!)

Tomorrow will be the last guest post of the week, and it’s just as lovely as the two previous manicures!

Have a great day! Do you own any black and white glitters?

Mix and Match Yellow and Pink Nail Art

Such a creative title, I know. You know how there are just those posts where you look at the pictures and say, “Gah, what is a suitable and describing title that isn’t too lame?” Well this was one of those times. But let’s admit it- I’m not too creative with my titles. I do that on purpose; I think that if I have plain and simple titles then more people searching for that will have a better chance of landing right here, on this blog. *fun fact, minus the fun*

Aaaaaanyhow, I had these nails on last week, and I was feeling kind of glum and blah, so I decided to go for some cheery colours to use. Pink and yellow it was!

DSCN3069

DSCN3063

For the pink I used Nicole By OPI – Be Ama-Zing!. The silver polish I used is L.A. Colors – Live. The holographic glitter is Venique – Twinkling Glitter. The yellow I wish I never used was Orly – Hook Up. Hook Up stains my nails sooooooo bad every time I use it. Even with two coats of base coat this time, it still left my nails a bright yellow. So, if you have any miracle products or DIYs for removing awful stains, please send them my way!

The feather decals are from Born Pretty. I reviewed them here, and remember to use my code (CY5J61) if you’d like to purchase them (or anything else) from their site :)

DSCN3056

Well, my friends, that’s about it! I still have some posts to catch up on, so hopefully I’ll get into photo editing mood :)

Third In Line Nail Art

It’s a boy! The third in line is a boy!

I'm not one of those people that held onto my seat every second while Kate was in the hospital, but I do think the birth of her son is worthy of some nail art.

I had an idea in mind of what I wanted the flag to look like- I wanted a baby blue background, but I actually do not own any true baby blue polishes! I worked with what I had, though.

DSCN2951

For my ring finger I used a base of China Glaze – Electric Beat, then used a white Stripe Rite striper and a striping brush dipped in a red Lacura Polish to create the Image of a flag.

For the rest of my nails I used a base of OPI – So Many Clowns…So Little Time. For my pinky, middle, and thumb nails I used two coats of OPI – Which Is Witch?. For my index finger created a dot gradient (can we call it that?) using China Glaze – Electric Beat, my red Lacura polish, Julie G – My Private Palace, L.A. Colors – Live, Sinful Colors – All About You, and Orly – Au Champagne.

Nerds Nail Art

I don’t typically enjoy candy, aside from chocolate, but Nerds is a whole different story! I love Nerds! I enjoy all flavors, but had only the strawberry and grape flavor, so I modeled my nails after them :)

Ready for picture overload?

DSCN1386

I had to have someone take pictures of my right hand and both hands together for me. I’d like to be able to take more pictures of both hands, but hate asking for assistance from others. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!

DSCN1379

For my pink base I used Revlon – Sweet Tart (what a perfect name for Wonka inspired nails!). On the pink I put random spots of a nameless pink mini Funky Fingers polish to create a Nerd pattern. For my purple base I used LA Colors – Tropical Breeze. On top of that, I used NYC – Lavender Cupcake for my purple Nerd pattern. To add more dimension, I used a white Stripe Rite striper to highlight the Nerds.

As for the Nerd characters, I used black acrylic paint to create an outline. I then filled in the black with either pink or purple polish (the base colors), still leaving a black outline. I made white dots to create the eyes, then separated the toes and such with a black Stripe Rite striper. I finally finished them by using either my nameless Funky Fingers polish, or Lavender Cupcake to add highlights (and a tongue to the pink Nerd).

I am extremely happy with these Nerds nails. I think this was a perfect 100th post (yes, this is my 100th post :) ). And you? What do you think?

Eyeball French Tips + A Halloween Visitor

Since I haven’t done any actual Halloween nails this year, I decided to go for some eyeball tips.

DSCN1236

DSCN1237

DSCN1248

DSCN1243

I used two coats of Rimmel London – French Rose as my base, and then added two coats of Finger Paints – Gallery Glam to my tips. One each nail I added a somewhat large white dot, and added either a blue (I think I used L.A. Colors – Splash), green (Finger Paints – Go Van Gogh!), or brown (China Glaze – Mahogany Magic) dot to make the iris. Next, I added a black dot in the iris to make the pupil. The final step for the eye was to take a striper dipped into red polish to make the blood vessels. I added a few coats of a glow-in-the-dark polish at the tips, so that is why it looks a little bulky and uneven.

The day I painted my nails, I also saw a little bat attaching himself to my patio umbrella:

Isn’t he adorable? This makes me want a bat as a pet :)

White and Silver Zebra Nails

I don’t have much to say about these nails. Zebra nails aren’t anything special, but everyone (including myself) always loves them.

DSCN0865

DSCN0862

DSCN0868

I used Sally Hansen – Pure White Tip for my white base, and L.A. Colors – Live for my silver base. I used a Stripe Rite striper in black to make my stripes.

Guest Post at Tips and Topcoat!

This is just a quick post to tell you that I have a guest post over at Tips and Topcoat. It was my first guest post, so please go easy one me :) She actually published it last night, but I was a bit slow getting to my computer!

I chose to do nautical stars on my nails

Orly–Mysterious Curse

I really don’t have much to say about this polish, other than I love it. Let the pictures speak for themselves…

After wearing this polish for a day, I decided to add one coat of L.A. Colors – Jewel Tone.

Neon Paint Splatter Nails

Today’s challenge was to create nails inspired by a tutorial. I decided to use Kayla Shevonne’s Rainbow Splatter Tutorial. I think her nails look better. I really like the colors she used! Regardless, I’m still pretty happy with my nails.

I couldn’t stand the nails I had yesterday, so took it off once I made my blog post. I also couldn’t stand having naked nails, so I decided to just paint today’s challenge on my nails, yesterday.

DSCN0427

DSCN0428

DSCN0429

I am not a very patient person. Especially, when it comes to waiting for my nails to dry, so that is why there is some smearing from my top coat. It kind of makes sense though; naturally, if you paint a wall, and there is a bead of paint, it will run down the wall. So,  my top coat must have been ahead of the game, and wanted to add a realistic effect :D

I used L.A. Colors – Energy Source for my white base, and E.l.f – Neon Yellow, E.l.f. – Neon Green, Sally Hansen – Blue Me Away!, and Funky Fingers – Power Play for my paint splatters.

Tomorrow is the last day of the 31 Day Challenge! The theme is to recreate your favorite challenge.

4th of July Nails

Today’s challenge, for day 28, was to create nails inspired by a flag. I actually wanted to create nails for a country other than the country I live in, but I thought I would get into the festivities of the Fourth of July :)

DSCN0393

DSCN0394

DSCN0388

DSCN0397

Index finger: I applied 2 coats of Wet n Wild- Red Red, and added red, white, and blue star spangles (see comparison at the end of the post), going from top to bottom.

Middle finger: I painted my middle finger white (L.A. Colors – Energy Source), and used L.A. Colors – Live (silver), Pure Ice –French Kiss (blue), and Wet n Wild – Red Red (red) for the dry marble.

Ring finger: I painted my nail white and used a detail brush to make a small blue square (Pure Ice – French Kiss). I then used my detail brush again to make red stripes (some of them were a bit messy, so I used a white Stripe Rite striper to even them out a bit). I then placed small silver hexagons to the blue area to represent the stars. By the way- I didn’t actually count the stripes as I made them, but once I was done, I counted and actually ended up with 13!! Crazy :D

Pinky and Thumb: I painted my nails with Orly – Rock Solid, and then used a silver (L.A. Colors Art Deco – Silver + Color Club Art Club – Fine Silver), red (L.A. Colors Art Deco – Red Glitter), and blue (L.A. Colors Art Deco – Blue Glitter) striper to create fireworks.

Okay, you may call me a liar because the star spangles don’t look like the colors I said they were, but trust me- they are :)

DSCN0406

The white looks like it is purple/pink, but here is a comparison. It looks purple/pink because of the pretty film put on top of them :)

The blue also doesn’t look blue, but here is a better comparison between the pink, white and blue spangles (in that order):

DSCN0413

DSCN0412

Also, the red doesn't look red; it looks more like a dark pink, but here is a comparison between the red and dark pink:

Sorry if that was a confusing post! Writing all of the different polishes and stripers was confusing to me! Here are all of the polishes I used today: (maybe the picture will clarify my confusing wording)

DSCN0403

Have a great day! See you tomorrow for nails inspired by the supernatural…
